About Me
Baking is my relaxation! Don’t get me wrong, baking unlike cooking for the most part requires exact measurements. And sometimes things go wrong and that is not relaxing but more frustrating. I’ve learned though, the more you practice the easier it gets.
Like most kids, I loved to be in the kitchen with my mom or yiayai's helping. As I grew older I enjoyed signing up at school for bake sales and such. It didn’t however really go anywhere until after I graduated from university. I moved closer to home to save money, and help me save and eventually one day move to San Francisco. I had been there a few times once my college friend moved out there, and fell in love with the city. Upon moving home, I found an evening pastry program and decided to give it a try. If anything I would at least learn from professionals and have some fun. Meanwhile my friend in SF had a similar idea with regards to pastry, and found a 6 month program. A couple days a week for a few hours and every other Saturday for the whole day. Once I finished my program, I looked into the one my friend signed up for and decided this was something we needed to do together. She had the ability to pass on a few sessions, giving me time to find a job I could transfer to, and then sign up as well so that we would attend together. At no point had I signed up for this intending to come out of it some famous pastry chef. Things like that take time or a unique talent that I was not born with. For me getting anywhere would require sacrifice and time. In any case, the experience itself was a once in a lifetime and I met so many amazing people that I still keep in touch with today.
