A side of Tequila

It’s been couple of months since the last story. I hope everyone is off to a promising 2022! For many of us 2021 didn’t start off so well, but we got thru it, and I know that a majority of everyone did not have the ability to resume travel, so please note this story isn’t meant to throw travel in your face. It's just a story of my girlfriends and I. We originally planned a trip to Argentina in December of 2020, and we all know this DID NOT happen. So, we decided to push it to Dec 2021, not knowing what would be. By summer of 2021, we realized Argentina was not in our near future, so we set off to plan a short getaway that included hot weather! We all needed an escape from the cold and we hadn't seen each other in 2+ years, with the exception of once a week online video chats to keep ourselves company. After mindless hours of searching for a good location that we could all agree on, and of course all the details with regards to covid measurments in said destination, and total cost including airfare, we decided on Cancun!

All three of us are vaccinated with a booster, and we take necessary precautions to keep ourselves and those around us healthy. So why not treat ourselves to some fun in the sun! We found an all inclusive resort, bought our airline tickets, and once we arrived, we stayed put at the resort the entire week! By day, we were just three gals hunkered down sunbathing poolside, with a side of Tequila. All day everyday! We made friends in the poolside bartenders. They took care of us, and we took care of them! A couple of us took advantage of the spa services with some much needed body kneading. By night, we dressed up, meaning we wore something other than a bathing suit, and tried some of the restaurants, and for the nights we couldn’t get a table at the fancy spots, we just hit the buffet and ate to our hearts desire, or until we could no more; whichever came first. I’ll be honest, it had been a verrrry long time for me to have drank and eaten so much, without a proper workout. And you can ask my friends, I came prepared to use the gym, however gym and I never met up. By the time I came home, I was in a food/alcohol coma, and I was so ready to hit the gym and undo what the last 7 days had piled on to me.

We celebrated the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022 together, and with a slew of random people from the resort. They had a party with music, drinks (champagne of course). We were able to choose our seats, and did a good job of that, given we were to the side of the stage. I might have had some real anxiety if we were smack in the middle. Watching the “dance floor” (all on the beach) stage front would have been to much. I was happy to be in a corner away from the crazies on top of each other.

Here we are now 1 month later and several snow storms later, oh how I'd love to be somewhere warm with a Tequila at my side! For now, I'll just head back to baking and planning the next special.
